5 TYPES OF FRIENDS WE ALL NEED IN OUR LIFE.

We've all got our own squad that would blow Taylor Swift's squad AWAY.
Friends are everything.
They are your soulmates before you meet the love of your life, and always there after the all night drinking sessions, which result in you face down in a doner kebab.
They're there for the dizzying highs and the painful lows...
We have friends who can solve all your problems with a shot of tequila and a night you will almost certainly forget, and friends who solve your problems by dissecting every single part of the situation giving you the best advice.
Today's post is all about the different types of friends we all have in our lives, the ones we call first for different reasons and in different situations.

#1 - THE GOOD TIME GAL.
She's the one you call when you need a really good night out, she's the one you call when you just want to have a good time and forget all the troubles and stresses of everyday life.
This wonderful woman doesn't live in the real world, she lives in a world that wakes up at 4pm, her most treasured possession is a purse full of free shot cards and can get you to the front of the queue with a single facebook message to the array of club owners, promoters and bouncers she knows.
If you're looking to befriend a good time gal and you don't have one in your life already, you will find her in the VIP lounge of any nightclub or at the bar doing a jager train.

#2 - THE GAL WHO'S GOT IT ALL.
She's the girl you call when you need to be inspired or need some advice on how to stop being such a fuck up.
She's your friend but she's the one you secretly trips and falls off her perfect Louboutins.
She's got the career, she's got the money, she's got the devoted partner and she looks like a supermodel.
Empowered, ambitious and successful women make the best friends, they can really open your eyes to what is achievable, what life can be like if you work hard enough. The greatest thing I take from friends like these is MOTIVATION.

#3 - THE WISDOM GAL
This friend is the one that everyone goes to when they have a problem.
She is a fountain of knowledge and full of advice that will help you get through and help you make decisions that could change your life.
She's a pusher and she wants the best for every single one of her friends and genuinely worries about you when you're unsettled.
You call her when you need someone to just vent, cry and moan to and know that by the end of the phone call a little piece of you is motivated by her advice or just relieved to have got things off your chest.

#4 - THE FOODIE FRIEND
This friend is the one you call when you simply want to eat lots of food and not feel guilty about it.
You are often tagging each other at random restaurants on Facebook and she's the only person that you know won't judge you when you deavour 5 double cheeseburgers in her car after a shitty day at work.
You tag each other in food related posts on social media and they are the friend you avoid when you're on that 5 day detox because you know she'll entice you into ordering a dominos.

#5 - YOUR SISTER FROM ANOTHER MISTER.
Some people just come into your life and naturally stay forever, I have two friends who will read this and know it's about them,
This type of friend is not someone who needs to be there every single day because you just don't feel the need to make a conscious effort, you naturally miss them and crave to be around them eventually and when you do finally get together it's like you have never ever been apart.
You can sit with them and not feel like you have to fill silence with babble, these friends have seen you through the darkest times of your life and have been there during the happiest memories you have.
Although you have this inseparable bond, these friends tend to be the ones who hurt you the most and the ones you fight with the most, which is why I liken this type of friend to a sibling. I fight with my two sister-like friends more than anybody else and I've had my heart broken by them too, and vice versa.
You won't find these types of friends just anywhere and they will usually be people you meet in your teen years, you must treasure these friendships above any other because they are the ones that tend to make the best memories with and you have the hardest bond to break.

I hope you have enjoyed this post as much as I have writing this and I hope my girls reading this will know which ones relate to them! Leave me a comment below telling me what you love about your friends!

10 THINGS THAT HAPPEN WHEN YOU BECOME A PARENT

I don't often write posts on my experiences as a parent. I mean I share the odd picture of Harper on Instagram and may occasionally tweet about something hilarious she has done. Today I really wanted to write a post about the things that happen to you and everything you have ever known when you become a parent, because it is a HUGE change and you can never be prepared for the ups, the downs and the sideways that being a parent brings. Being a mummy is the biggest and most important part of my life so I thought I would share with you some insight into my experiences as a mama.

#1 - YOU DON'T GET INVITED TO PARTIES ANYMORE.
When you become a parent, it's almost like you lose your identity to most people. The same people that used to invite you to their parties and to festivals, walk past you in the street without a second glance as soon as a little human has ejected the womb. The only parties I get invited to now are ones at 3:30am in Harper's room where she's jumping up and down shouting MUUUUUUMMY. Don't get me wrong when I became a parent I wasn't the same Rebekka, and I knew that some of my "friends" wouldn't adjust to the changes in my priorities. They loved the Rebekka who won jager train competitions and had dance off's in Mercy, and that's okay, we had fun and I have fond memories with those people.

#2 - YOU BECOME COMPETITIVE, EVEN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ADMIT IT
Okay, so let's be real, every parent is a litle competitive, some more than others that's for sure. I constantly see the same mother's on social media boasting that their child walked or did a wee in the potty at like 6 months old LOL. I have friends who are like "well my child is 14 days older than theirs and he's already walking, am I doing something wrong?" I mean I am a smug parent, Harper is already an over achiever for sure and I am smug even when it comes to my nephew, I am their biggest fans and there's nothing wrong with that. Parents are SO competitive and when I see the yummy mummy's of Facebook bragging every single day it makes me smile.

#3 - GUILT IS AN EVERYDAY EMOTION
This is probably one of the most negative side effects of having children. I feel CONSTANTLY guilty and I could honestly reel off a HUGE list of things I feel guilty for doing or not doing in Harper's 3 years of life. When I was suffering with PND that was the way I could describe how I was feeling to doctors and to my friends/family, it feels like constant gut churning guilt and dread. I even felt guilty for working, I would go to pick Harper up from my sister's and cry my eyes out every single day until after 2 months I eventually quit. That was over a year ago and I have almost fully recovered since then, I have my hard days and I have my really good days but ultimately I learnt that guilt is the most common emotion for any mother and I realised that all we can really do for our children is our best and hope that you can create happiness and safety for them.

#4 - YOU BECOME EMOTIONAL ABOUT THE MOST TRIVIAL THINGS
Hands up if you've cried over your child eating a plate of food or singing a nursery rhyme?! ME.
I don't know what it is, but when you become a parent you become an emotional wreck. I know I am not the only person like this because my sister and my mummy friends are EXACTLY the same!
I have to pull it together every single time I go to the preschool and see Harper playing and interacting with all of her little friends. I get so emotional every single time she's poorly, every time she tries a new food, every time she eats a whole plate of food and that's not even the half of it.
I don't know whether it's her age and seeing her little personality come through or whether I am just going to be like Kris Jenner and cry at everything my children do even when they're in their late 30s.

#5 - BEING EMBARRASSED IN PUBLIC IS NORMALITY
I remember about 6 months ago during a food shop Harper started shouting FUCK at the top of her voice on a crowded aisle and I could've died, it was probably the most mortifying moment of my life. Everyone else found it hilarious as my attempts to stop her only increased the volume of her outburst. This sort of thing happens every time we leave the house, a few weeks ago we went for breakfast in the city and it was extremely quiet, Harper began to shout at Justin, who was at the bar at this point, "DADDY I NEED A POO, I NEED A POO QUIIIICK!" again, humiliating.
I used to think my darling toddler was the only foul mouthed creature doing these embarrassing things in public, turns out I am not alone, which is comforting.

#6 - YOU'RE UP ON A SUNDAY MORNING AT THE TIME YOU USED TO GET IN.
Way back when it was just me, myself and I, I would be often known to roll in at around 6am, crack of dawn time frames. Fast forward 4 years and I am usually up at 6am watching Paw Patrol with a black coffee in hand. I count myself particularly lucky, I have friends who get up at horrific times like 4am, there's a lot of things I will put up with but 4am is not one of them. Shout out to all the mamas out there whose kids get up at 4am, you're a better woman than I am.

#7 - SLEEPING MORE THAN 4 HOURS WITHOUT DISRUPTION IS A LUXURY
Me and Justin are complete opposites, I can barely function without 8 hours and a 2 hour cat nap during the day whereas Justin can have around 4-6 hours and cope. This is the one thing I really struggled with as a new parent, I am a sleepaholic, it's my favourite thing to do and yeah before Harper became part of the household I was getting more than 10 hours a night that's for sure. I now treasure nights that I get more than 4 hours without the dread "MUUUUUMMY!" siren coming from the next room. Also, you would assume giving in and allowing them to finally come into your bed would result in a peaceful sleep, OH NO. Unless you can sleep through a kick in the nose and sleeping so close to the floor you're practically holding half your body up off the bed, then you will know what it's like to be constantly sleep deprived.

#8 - YOU PRETEND YOUR KIDS EAT ALL THE FRUIT AND VEG WHEN IN REALITY THEY EAT ALL THE CHICKEN NUGGETS.& HARIBO!
I like to pretend that Harper is an adventurous eater to strangers but everyone who knows her, knows that she is the fussiest eater in the world. I never even considered that this kind of attitude towards food was possible, especially being a genetic make up of me and Justin combined when we're both absolute foodies. Harper loves chicken nuggets and kinder eggs and that is it. I have tried every single thing you could think possible to get her to eat good food or just anything that isn't a chicken nugget and failing so hard. It's a situation I know that I am not alone in at all, I know lots and lots of mums with the same issues as we have with Harper and I know it will get better, it has to.

#9 - KIDS TELEVISION IS AS ADDICTIVE AS CRACK COCAINE.
Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig are like a pair of pushy drug dealers, filling my television with addictive 3 hour long back to back marathons and filling the shops with their overpriced merchandise that my mental toddler goes crazy for every single time she passes it. Don't get me wrong, I get it, there's only so long that you can go on with the theme tune blaring out of the television and catch yourself singing a long and knowing the name of every single character, you're only human! Another thing Harper is OBSESSED with is YouTube on the iPad, watching what I imagine to be the equivalent of watching paint dry, people opening surprise eggs. Her favourite at the moment is Ryan's Toy Review and if you're a parent of a child who watches YouTube you will know that Ryan kid almost as well as you know your own.

#10 - UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
In Harper's short lifetime she has managed to give me a black eye, had a poo on my lap and all down my legs at least three times, peed on me more times than I can remember, been sick in my hair and kicked me in the face a million more times than I can count. How can this little monster still be the absolute love of my life?! That is the beauty of unconditional love. The minute this little bundle of joy was placed into my arms I loved her more than anything without even having to think about it. My sister told me that when my nephew was born she just stared at him for days and didn't sleep, having a child will destroy every single emotion you have ever had in your body and build new ones from the moment you set eyes on your beautiful baby. It's the most crazy, scary, amazing, emotional, exciting, difficult, complicated, rewarding and fulfilling journey you could ever experience in your whole lifetime and it's the best thing that could ever happen to you as a human being in my opinion.
Nobody said it was easy, but I promise you, you will never ever regret it or imagine your life without your child for the rest of your life, ahhh unconditional love.

I hope you have enjoyed this extremely personal post, like I said before, I don't really talk about Harper or my opinions on parenting and experiences, but I want to make this more of a regular thing in my posts because she really is my greatest achievement and everything she does is the next proudest moment of my life, if you enjoyed this post and want to see more of this type of post on my blog, let me know in the comments below!

HUGE BEAUTY HAUL & MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Hello my loves, it's been a while right?
I have been so busy the last couple of weeks and to be honest, I just haven't been feeling my blog vibe at all for various reasons, but yeah, I'M BACK NOW.
Today's post is a HUGE beauty haul and first impressions. I have been spending way beyond my means the last 6 weeks on Beauty Bay and at Boots, but my god have I got a lot to show for it. A word of warning, this post may encourage uncontrollable spending and cause a huge dent in your bank balance, soz babes.

ART DECO RICH TREATMENT FOUNDATION

This foundation is the best foundation you never knew existed.
I bought this foundation on a whim on Beauty Bay about 5 weeks ago now, the reviews were extremely good for a brand I had never heard of.
So, because I am always look for the next foundation to make my skin FLAWLESS AF, I had to try it and I am SO glad that I did.
If you are looking for a full coverage base for oily/combination skin, this is your new BFF (best foundation friend), honestly this has become my go to foundation when I want to achieve high coverage effortlessly.
YOU CAN BUY IT/READ THE REVIEWS RIGHT HERE.

MORPHE 706 12 PIECE BLACK AND WHITE TRAVEL BRUSH SET

Again, I bought these brushes from Beauty Bay around 5 weeks ago and I am OBSESSED.
This set was crazy cheap, I think I paid just under £20 for a set of full size brushes from such a reputable brand.
The collection includes
  • Pointed Liner Brush
  • Angle Liner Brush
  • Concealer Brush
  • Pencil Brush
  • Tapered Blender Brush
  • Round Blender Brush
  • Angle Blush/Contour Brush

NIVEA FOR MEN SENSITIVE POST SHAVE BALM

So it was only a matter of time before I jumped on this bandwagon and I LOVE a beauty trend as much as the next blogger. If you haven't heard, this post shave balm has become the primer to end all primers, no really.
I have been using this for about a week now, and yes it really, really does keep your make up on ALL DAY, I mean even after a 8 hour shift and a walk home in torrential rain.
THIS BABY DOES NOT LET THAT CONTOUR SHIFT!
You can definitely feel how sticky it is when you apply it to your face but it smells good and it's making my skin so smooth it's unreal.
I recommend this to all of my friends and all of my readers, go and get yourself a bottle of this, you will not be disappointed.

L'OREAL ELVIVE EXTRAORDINARY CLAY COLLECTION

I suffer with formidable greasy hair, I have to wash my hair every other day because leaving it any longer makes my hair look wet or like I have dipped my hair in chip fat, it's disgusting and I have always struggled to find shampoo's that really work for me.
My all time favourite shampoo is Herbal Essences Bee Strong but I LOVE to try out new shampoo, conditioners and hair masks all the time.
I did a huge boots haul and whilst browsing the brand new L'Oreal Elvive Clay collection caught my eye, especially with the great offer Boots had on for the whole set for £10 - I couldn't resist.
I have again been using this for a week and my first impressions are good. The shampoo is awesome, it makes my hair feel and smell so good on day one, but as I expected the conditioner is WAY too heavy, you can really feel when you've used it.
The clay mask is great, you apply to your roots dry just before you get in the bath or shower and leave it on until your wash your hair, I have only used this once so I can't really comment on it's effects too much but it smells amazing and did leave my hair feeling great from first time use.
I would really recommend the shampoo and the mask for gals with greasy hair, but not the conditioner.

MAYBELLINE NY THE FALSIES PUSH UP DRAMA MASCARA

MY NEW HOLY GRAIL MASCARA!
What is it with Maybelline and their amazing mascara formulas?! They have really come into their own when it comes to mascara's lately, especially every girls lash best friend, lash sensational.
I am a HUGE fan of Lash Sensational, so when they bought out their brand new THE FALSIES PUSH UP DRAMA MASCARA last month I knew I had to get my mitts on it.
This mascara is genuinely one of the best mascaras I have ever used, if you're looking for extreme volume AND length this is the one for you.
I wouldn't recommend this for someone who wears minimal makeup as this really does create a false lash effect but it's a great finish on a dramatic eye, in fact it creates a dramatic eye look all on it's own.
It's just as good on the bottom lashes as it is on the top, I really recommend this product above all I have mentioned today!

REAL TECHNIQUES DEEP CLEANSING BRUSH GEL

I bought this from Boots after a million and one recommendations.
I really needed a thorough makeup brush cleaner because my brushes were getting ridiculous, especially my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponges, we all know how disgusting they get by the third use, let alone the tenth.
So, I have only used this once but it really makes make up brush cleaning less of a chore. It takes a lot less time to do and gives an extremely thorough clean within a minute of cleaning.
All you need to do to achieve great results is dampen the brush and massage the gel into the bristles, then grab an old towel and massage the brush in circular motions to lift all the makeup from the brush. If you're cleaning your beauty blender I would only clean in your hands due to how fragile they are, which still provides excellent results within seconds. I then rinse my brushes and leave to dry, for some reason this product also allows my make up tools to dry quicker too.
It's MAGICAL, get yours HERE!

DKNY BE DELICIOUS FRESH BLOSSOM PERFUME

I have been looking for a Spring scent for a couple of weeks now and as always my perfume bae Marc Jacobs Daisy will suffice, but I really wanted to try something new.
I am really into floral or vanilla scents and I am really fussy with perfume I either love a scent with all of my heart or I outright hate it, so finding a new perfume was proving difficult.
UNTIL, I discovered DKNY's latest be delicious fragrance, fresh blossom.
I always associated DKNY Be Delicious with their apple scent that all the girls at school would carry around in their Jane Norman carrier bags, it was the signature scent in the girls PE changing rooms and I remember choking on the endless spritzes on many occasions.
So yeah, this fragrance collection has never been one that I am curious about at all, until Justin bought the fresh blossom perfume for Mother's Day and honestly it smells, well, DELICIOUS.
It's a really floral, girly fragrance and is quite strong but so long wearing and fresh, i'm hooked to this perfume now.
I have even sprayed it on my pillows I love it that much!
If you're looking for a fresh floral scent this Spring, this is the one for you without a doubt.

MAKEUP REVOLUTION VIVID BAKED BRONZER - ROCK ON WORLD

I popped into Superdrug last Sunday whilst waiting for my new glasses and found myself at the MAKEUP REVOLUTION counter, earlier last month I was invited to their second anniversary party which is this week and although being a huge fan of their brand and used my sister's products, I had never actually bought anything myself.
So I had to rectify that situation, naturally and fell in love with this baked bronzer!
I have only used it twice since last week but oh my god, it is incredibly pigmented and I have been using it to sharpen my contour, and it's been a success.
It's perhaps a little on the orange side for me but once blended into other products it really gives my contour that edge that it didn't previously.
If you're looking for a cheaper way to achieve that Kardashian contour get this right HERE.

SOAP & GLORY LOVE AT FIRST BLUSH

I bought this MONTHS ago, but it definitely needs a mention because I am using it daily now that Spring is coming.
I love a more pink toned cheek in Spring and this little beauty really gives me that subtle rosy glow.
I bought this after falling completely and fully in love with Solar Powder, which is my MUST HAVE makeup product, I go through one a month, no joke.
If you haven't got either of these, go and buy them right now.
LOVE AT FIRST BLUSH HERE!
SOLAR POWDER HERE!

I hope you enjoyed this beauty haul, I told you there was quite a bit to get through. Let me know if you have any of these products in the comments below! Also, let me know what products YOU have been loving so far this year!
