So as bloggers we all want the latest gadgets and the best tech to make sure our blog is constantly on point. But is the money you're spending really necessary? Today's post is all about discovering what products you should be investing your cash in, and which products you can pick up for pennies.

There really is no competition when it comes to taking blog photos with a professional camera vs your iPhone. I don't own a decent camera but dear god, I wish I did. The quality of your photographs are so NECESSARY for blogger and although filters are great, the quality of your content will be much more 'pro' with a camera worth investing in.

Every savvy blogger has a planner and they really will help you stay focused and stay organised in times when you really need to get shit done. I have seen millions of planners distributed here, there and everywhere, some are free, some are cheap as chips and some are extortionately priced. In reality all you need from a planner is a structured space where you can record ideas, upcoming deadlines and dates to remember, so spending £35 on a planner is really unnecessary.

Now as instagram worthy Macbooks are, they are just not completely necessary when it comes to being a blogger. As much as we would all love to have one of these £1,200 babes sitting on our desks, in reality, not all of us can afford that kind of expense. To write and edit photo's there are so many laptops that are so good and cost a HUGE fraction of the price of a Macbook.
Should you dabble into the Youtube side of this business, only then would I recommend investing in a Macbook because they're pretty handy when it comes to editing video footage and super responsive for that type of work, however if you're just writing a blog post and editing photography a much cheaper laptop will more than suffice.

The reason I have used both for this one, is because this is a really important element for a blogger on really establishing their 'look' and theme for their audiences. I would say if you're a tech savvy, coding whizz, absolutely SAVE on this aspect of your blog. However, if you're a newbie or not that good with coding and you're looking for help with setting up your template and a more personal service throughout then you must SPLURGE.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, let me know what is your most important blogging essentials and why in the comments below. Thank you for reading and for more from me, make sure you're following me on social media.

  1. I 100% agree with all of this - especially the camera and planner ~ I can't fathom how people spend £30+ on things like happiness planners, they are gorgeous but so expensive D: and same with MacBook's, I do own an air but I got it in another country when the exchange rate was very good for £550 which I think is okay :') but £1200 for blogging alone - hell nah! xx

  2. I'm always debating as to whether to purchase a template or not for my blog, I'm always 50/50 and decide to stick to what I've got! Another one you could mention is a domain name-save or splurge!

  3. I struggle with what to save and splurge on when it comes to my blog. Luckily for me, I had gotten a Macbook, DSLR prior to starting my blog. Now I struggle whether to buy these expensive lenses bloggers keep raving about or if it is necessary to get a £35 planner for aesthetics. I had been using a free blog template but after reading this, I went and bought a template. But it was a real save for £10. Loved the post.

  4. The usual things for a modern blogger, but you can use a lot of other devices to improve the quality of your blogs. I recently received an assignment to write an essay for one student my review here, he dropped the photo of his office and asked me to write an article about inspiration within the walls of the office. At first it seemed strange to me, but when I saw the photo I realized that this man is talented and creative, but in a different direction. It is interesting to work for the benefit of such people.

  5. This is such a great post. I love the free blog planner template, I always see those overpriced blog planners and I just couldn't justify the price for paper - seems ludicrous to me! I did recently splurge on a olympus pen tho!
