I'M BACK - 4 THINGS I HAVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH THIS SUMMER!

No you're not hallucinating, it's not a dream, I am back writing on my blog for the first time since March! I was just going to sweep it under the rug and act like I had never been away, but if you follow me on social media you will know that I have been very much torn about whether I should continue my blog or retire it.
A few weeks ago, I tweeted that I was retiring my blog and ever since I tweeted that, I have been totally conflicted with my decision and it may have been the realisation I needed to give myself a kick up the arse and get back to my blog.
If you didn't know, I have been focusing heavily on establishing myself as digital marketing manager as a freelancer, and it's now been a year since I began and honestly, I couldn't be in a better place with my career. The plan is, essentially, to go from just freelancer to established digital marketing business in 2019/20, but that is a work in progress and at the moment I am just enjoying loving what I do for a living for the first time in a very long time.

Back to my blog - I wish I could say I am sorry for not focusing all my free time into my blog, but the truth is, this Spring/Summer has been absolutely amazing! The weather, the football, Dani & Jack falling in love in front of our eyes on Love Island. So, I thought it was only fitting to dedicate my first post back to the wonderful summer of 2018 and everything I have been fully obsessed with this summer!

GARETH SOUTHGATE

I meaaaan, if he wasn't the first obsession to address from this summer there would be some eyebrows raised. I fell in love with Gareth Southgate this summer, and his waistcoat and his beard. If you know me, you know I love a middle aged man with a bit of ambition, and I would say taking England to the semi finals of the World Cup for the first time in 28 years, is a bit more than a bit ambitious. Anyway, I am fully in love with him and can't wait to watch him in his waistcoat at the Croatia game at Wembley in November.

FOOTBALL WAS COMING HOME

As most of you will already know, I bloody love football, but there's something about international football that is on a different level, especially when England do well. For a whole month the whole country came together and we were all incessantly tweeting 'It's coming home!' everyone was skipping work for boozy BBQs with their favourite people and it was just magical.

A LITTLE BIT OF LOVE ISLAND

If you follow me on twitter you will know I am USUALLY religiously hooked to Love Island, but for the first time ever, I didn't love it. It lost its spark this series, I hated everybody that others liked, and I liked everybody that others hated. The only thing I can really take from this year's Love Island that I really enjoyed was Dani & Jack, they may be the most purest couple we have ever seen created on Love Island, closely followed by Olivia & Alex. The whole nation fell in love with them, and they made me happy cry a bit which doesn't happen often.

HAIR MASKS & CONDITIONERS

Autumn is my favourite season by miles, so the heat this summer was UNWELCOME, I honestly have hated every single second of it, from sweating, to hair drier than the Sahara desert, thank god for hair masks & conditioners. Frazzled and frizzy is an understatement, I never knew how sensitive to the heat my hair was until this summer. My life savers this summer have been Argan Oil Moroccan hair masks & Pantene Superfood Full & Strong 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner.

What have you been obsessing over this summer?

4 WAYS TO BRING SPRING INTO YOUR HOME

Spring is almost here and it is one of my favourite seasons. Spring just screams new, fresh and rejuvenation to me, and I love to feel motivated or inspired by new things, new surroundings and new starts. We are redecorating the bottom floor of our house at the moment and it is slowly but surely taking form from our plan outlines we made in the Winter. There are so many ways to incorporate the brightness and the freshness of Spring into your home and today I will be sharing my top tips on how to bring Spring into your home.

FLORAL TOUCH - The best thing about Spring to me, is daffodil and tulip season. I love having dozens of daffodils spread all over the house and I think they're a great accent to any room. Tulips are also a really beautiful Spring flower and come in so many colours that you can really experiment with when it comes to the themes of each room in your house.

STICKY HONEY & SOY CHICKEN RECIPE

I have been adapting this recipe for a few weeks and I have finally nailed it, so of course I had to share it with you guys! My recipes have always been a popular feature on my blog so I wanted to add another into the mix! I love chicken, I probably eat chicken 5 out of 7 evening meals a week and I love to create new variations and dishes with chicken all the time.
Today's dish is one that you can make your own depending on your own tastes, which is something I really like about this recipe, I like to add different vegetables to the sticky chicken all the time, my favourite with this dish is spinach and mushroom.

BEING A WORKING MUM - MY STORY & TOP TIPS

Juggling a small human or two, and working has been a challenge to say the least. You can never prepare yourself for the time consumption that children require and for some reason everyone thinks that being a mum isn't hard work, well spoiler alert - it is. The stigma surrounding mums who choose not to work is a negative one, usually attached to sitting around in your dressing gown all day watching Loose Women and at the beginning of your cherished child's life, this is relevant. When they sleep all of the time and you are on maternity leave, in my opinion, despite the sleep deprivation, it's a pretty sweet deal. This post is sponsored by Old English Company.

5 WAYS TO CLEANSE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA SOUL

Social media has so many pros, it can connect you with people of similar interests, it can form friendships and make you laugh until you cry, but it can also upset you. cause anxiety and be a minefield for drama and even, bullying.
To really be present on social media, I have learnt first hand, thick skin is a must-have. As my following on social media has grown the more scrutiny I have faced, being attacked about my appearance on a daily basis has become a normality for me.
Attacking my appearance doesn't bother me as much as attacking my character, who I am and what I stand for, which also happens on a daily basis - those usually come in the form of indirect tweets or screenshots from a WhatsApp group.
Something that used to really bother me when I was younger was the thought of not being liked, I needed to prove people wrong about me, and change their opinion, in which some people I convinced and some people I didn't and it was those that I didn't convince that haunted me. I was always thinking how can I change? How can I make these people like me? As I have gotten older, those people don't bother me as much and I have begun to realise that I will never be everybody's cup of tea, in fact, I would go as far to say, I am an acquired taste.
Social media can be a real mood changer for me, it can cause worry or trigger anxiety, it can cause jealousy and resentment towards people I don't even know, but when I sit back and really think about it, that is SO unhealthy. So every 3-4 months I have a de-clutter on social media, and today's post is all about how to cleanse your social media soul and regain positive vibes from your feeds and platforms.

#1 UN FOLLOW PEOPLE THAT MAKE YOU HAVE NEGATIVE FEELINGS

It sounds absurd that we would continue to follow people who make us feel like shit about ourselves, but we all do it. Whether they intentionally make us feel bad or not, it can be a real dampener on your day when scrolling through your feed. Jealousy, anxiety and drama is not

#2  STOP JUST FOLLOWING BACK FOR THE SAKE OF FOLLOWING BACK

Our initial instinct is to just follow straight back when somebody follows us right? Well, this is not always the best option, your feed can become cluttered and hide the positive and uplifting posts that you live for. Only follow people if they add value to what you need from your social media feeds.

#3 TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE

If you adore somebody on social media, turn on notifications for their content so you never miss it. Not only are you getting your fix of your fave people to follow you're giving their content your attention and respect by liking and commenting, so yeah all good things, all good things.

#4 STOP ENVY FOLLOWING

It's simple, stop following people who make you question the value and worth of your own lifestyle. Don't get me wrong, a bit of hashtag morning motivation never hurt anyone, but constantly filling your feeds with images and content that don't relate or feel obtainable to your own life creates a really unhealthy and negative existence online. Have those motivational accounts that embody goals that you are working towards or dreams that you want to make come true but start following more people that are relatable to your current lifestyle, that you can engage with.

#5 REMEMBER IT'S ONLY SOCIAL MEDIA

At the end of the day, it's only social media and there is more to life than worrying about an online presence. Easier said than done? I get it, I am with you, I struggle so much to separate my actual life from my online life and I feel like creating that distance could really help with some anxiety I have had caused by social media. The ways you can distance yourself but remain a total addict is setting one or two evenings a week where at 5pm you don't scroll through social media once, you have a total blackout from social media. Such a small change could make a huge impact on your attitude towards social media and help you to let go a little bit.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, are you in need of a social media detox? Or maybe you have done a social media detox and it changed your outlook? I would love to know what you guys think so you can comment below or come say hello on social media.

NOT SO NAUGHTY BEEFY NACHO WEDGES

It has been a long time since I posted a recipe on my blog but they are by far my most popular posts on my blog, with 12K views on my garlic, salt and pepper chicken recipe alone. So I figured I better do another and staying true to my healthy but comforting unintentional theme of recipes, here is my Slimming world friendly, syn free not so naughty beefy nacho wedges recipe.

TOP BEAUTY PRODUCTS OF 2017

I have had so many beauty favourites in the past year that I just had to share them with you. I feel like 2017 was the year I really started to take notice of how important skincare is if you want to get the best finish on your makeup and turning 25 last year made me really conscious that I needed to start looking after my skin better. One of my main goals for 2018 is to find my holy grail skincare routine and stick to it, which we all know is a lot easier said than done.
In regards to make up, in 2017, I have been a real 'stick to what you know' kind of gal, which I don't really want to do in 2018. Again, I want to find new products as I am a little bored with the ones I have already, but the make up I have been using has been so good that I haven't been searching for new products for a reason.
So, grab a cuppa and get stuck into my top beauty products of 2017 and I have even linked you to them so you can get your hands on them too.

NIP + FAB HYDRATE DRAGONS BLOOD FIX PLUMPING SERUM, SUPERDRUG £19.95
This serum has been my favourite product full stop in 2017. I absolutely love this serum, it does everything it promises and more. Forget primer, put this under your makeup and you will see the difference. I used this twice daily, once before my makeup and once before bed, my skin was constantly hydrated, moisturised and plump.

BENEFIT READY, SET, BROW! SETTING GEL, JOHN LEWIS £20.00
I always thought setting brow gels were a bit of a fad, to be honest, and that I didn't really need one, but that was until I tried this Benefit setting gel and oh my, my brows are never done without it. The invisible gel sets your brows without making them look dried out or leaving a layer of clear paste over your brows. The brush is really precise and well shaped too so you can really get a great finish.

L'OREAL MATTE LIP PAINT IN 210 DEAD LIPS, £6.99
This has been my go-to matte lipstick this year, and the colour 'dead lips' is just the best everyday shade from the school run to cocktails with friends, this shade has seen me through this year.

URBAN DECAY TROUBLE MAKER MASCARA, JOHN LEWIS £19.50
I finally got my hands on this mascara in December but it has 1 million percent been the best mascara I have used this year. I don't use it for my bottom lashes because it is a heavy duty mascara and isn't right for a bottom lash finish. For the top lashes though this mascara is the best when you're in a rush which is me 90% of the time. This mascara will wake your eyes up on a Monday morning.

In 2017 Hoola became my holy grail bronzer, my sister bought me a Benefit gift set for my birthday in May and I have been in love ever since. If you love the bronze Kardashian contour, this bronzer is your best friend.

MORPHE 35OM EYESHADOW PALETTE, CULT BEAUTY £23.00
My go-to eyeshadow palette of 2017 was the Morphe 35OM by a mile, the range of shades is unbelievable. The amount of high-quality eyeshadows you get in this palette for around £25 is absolutely amazing and so affordable.

SLEEK SOLSTICE HIGHLIGHTING PALETTE, BOOTS £9.99
My highlighter of the year has to be the sleek solstice palette. Not only is a really affordable highlighting palette, I have never received so many compliments with any other highlighter that I have worn.

VASELINE INTENSIVE CARE COCOA RADIANT MOISTURISER 400ML, BOOTS £5.99
I go through so many bottles of this stuff because it really is the best affordable moisturiser out there, in my opinion. I suffer from a skin condition called Keratosis Pilaris and if you have this you will know that it's a nightmare especially when it flares up. This moisturiser really reduces the amount of redness and flare-ups on my skin and leaves my skin feeling so soft.

TRESEMME EXPERT SELECTION SPLIT END REMEDY
This product has been my hair saviour the past year and always makes my hair feel amazing. I use this just before I blow-dry my hair after a shower on the ends of my hair, you only need to use one pump for great results, so it lasts ages too. This product has been discontinued on the high street but you may be able to find it on Amazon and other independent retailers.

5 APPS THAT WILL ASSIST YOUR GOALS & RESOLUTIONS IN 2018

Happy New Year! If you're anything like me you've got the cliche resolutions ready, and you're more than determined than eve, and since it is 2018, conveniently. app assistance is a great way to achieve your goals. From drinking more water to becoming more financially stable - there's an app for that.
Today's post is all about my top eight apps that will help you achieve your hopes and dreams for 2018, or just get you to drink more water, either way, positive steps.

#1 HEAD SPACE - GUIDED MEDITATION
After I gave birth to Harper, almost 5 years ago now, I have suffered with anxiety. It can be triggered by so many different things & sometimes the things that could cause my anxiety one day could be the complete opposite to the triggers on the next. It held me back for a long time and although, I am a million miles from where I was four years ago, I would say anxiety is something I deal with almost every other day. I have downloaded this meditation app called Head Space after reading the rave reviews on App Store. The initial meditation and mindfulness 'basics' are free to use, however if you find them useful you can pay for a subscription that allows you access to hundreds of different meditations from anxiety to focusing to sleep therapy.

#2 MY WATER BALANCE - DAILY DRINK TRACKER

I suck at staying hydrated and I am hoping this app will change that. My water balance calculates your recommended water intake based on personal assessment and includes water, tea, coffee and many more. The app gives you fun awards when you achieve milestones and new achievements. It also sends notifications to your phone to remind you to drink. You can connect the app with apple health too, so you can use it along with your everyday apple health tracking.

#3 MONEY BOX - SAVE & INVEST

I am absolutely awful at saving money, in fact, I don't save and my mum nags me about it all the time - 'Rebekka, you need to be saving money for a rainy day or emergencies!'. But of course every time I try to save there's always something or some sale on somewhere, so no rainy day savings for me.
I've downloaded this app in hope it will help me in the most subtle way ever and by the end of 2018 I might have a little nest egg tucked away.
Moneybox rounds up your everyday purchases to the next pound, so if you buy a coffee for £3.50, it will round the purchase up to £4 and save the 50 pence. Another feature money box has is the ability to invest your everyday savings into stocks and shares which could see your saving double and even triple in front of your eyes. Investing, can offer higher returns than current or savings accounts over the long term. Moneybox has combined their app with investing experts to ensure your money is looked after and allows investment beginners to have a better understanding of projected risk and returns.

#4 SLEEP CYCLE

Sleep is SO important and something we all probably take for granted more than we should. 88% of us will suffer with some kind of sleeping problems at least once in our lifetime. Sleep deprivation can cause so many issues physically and is connected to a lot of mental health illnesses.
Sleep Cycle is an app that analyses your sleep and wake you in the lightest sleep phase. The built in microphone on your smartphone is used to analyse movement and the app ignores sounds like fans or snoring. It requires you to keep your device face down on a bed side surface to allow the app to work it's magic and analyse your sleep. You can also tap the surface next to your smartphone twice to activate snooze mode when the subtle alarm goes off instead of having to open up your phone to select snooze mode.

#5 CLEAR SCORE - CREDIT SCORE MANAGEMENT

One of my biggest goals for 2018 is to get my credit score looking healthier. I have been using clear score on desktop for about a year now and unlike a lot of other credit management services, Clear Score is absolutely free. The best thing about Clear Score is that you can set yourself targets to work towards and the service gives you free advice for credit building success.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and I hope you all have a successful, productive, happy and healthy 2018. Feel free to share with me your favourite apps in the comments below, I am always on the look out for new ways to be productive etc.
